I spent a week crossing southern Utah in September 2011. When I left CT for this shooting vacation, I could barely walk with a slipped disc in my back that was sending stabbing pain to my knee. Once we landed in Utah, the healing power of creative muse took over and I was soon taking short hikes through Zion National Park, Red Canyon and Fairyland Canyon. When we got to Bryce Canyon, I was able to spend about 10 hours hiking above and below the canyon.
